Let Me Explain.

Things have been kind of weird for me this season. As I reflect on the past few months, and this baseball season, I regret to say that I have not had the same fervent dedication to the Reds that I have had in seasons past. This has been one of the most exciting Reds seasons in recent history, and it’s totally taken a backseat to other things going on in my life. It’s certainly no fault of the Reds, but rather my fault for allowing forces to distract me when I should have been there for my team all along.

I know that I should stick to Reds material, but let’s talk about me for a minute. (Sorry but this is my blog and I can do whatever I want.) I had a busy summer. There was a lot going on, and sometimes I didn’t have time for the Reds. I didn’t go to the ballpark as much as I should have, and I certainly didn’t write enough. Between graduating from college, looking for a “real” job, working at my waitressing job, getting a new boyfriend (Sorry, gentlemen), maintaining a social life, making time for family, going on various adventures, taking vacations, finding, interviewing for, and taking a “real” job, breaking up with the new boyfriend (If any gentlemen would like to ask me on a date, this would be an excellent time to do so), losing my sister and brother to Ohio University, and trying to balance my full time job with my part time job, it’s been all I can do to get six hours of sleep a night and keep up on personal hygiene. Guys, this is no joke – I haven’t gotten my hair done since April. APRIL. LIKE THE MONTH OF OPENING DAY. I have gone almost an entire baseball season without a cut or color. Ladies who have hair that requires maintenance every 4-6 weeks, can I get an “amen” because I am too damn busy to keep up my personal appearance?

Why am I telling you all this? I don’t really know. I am trying to rationalize my silence on my blog that, through no effort whatsoever of mine (clearly), has still managed to stay at the top of the pile of Reds MLB fan blogs. That means that you guys have still been checking often, and I apologize for not having any fresh, funny material for you. I thought about writing a lot. I really did, but then I got embarrassed and didn’t really know what to say. You can’t just come back from months of silence with, “Brandon Phillips made yet another leaping grab, and Jay Bruce hit his 30th home run of the season! Reds win, yay!” That would be like a significant other vanishing without a trace, only to text you three months later asking if you heard Justin Bieber’s new single (or whatever the kids are listening to these days. Also, apologies for comparing my blog to your significant other. I really don’t know what I’m doing anymore.) If that happened to me, I’d say, “Fluff Justin Bieber’s new single although I did hear it and it seems a little pitchy for my tastes, and tell me where the hell you went and why I haven’t heard from you in months!”

That’s the thing about life. Sometimes, you get caught up in stuff and you find yourself looking around three months later wondering where all the time went. I don’t even know what I’m going to be for Halloween! And should I be starting my Christmas shopping? If anyone could please give some advice on how to be a grownup, keep all my ducks in a row, and maintain a healthy social, dating, and family life simultaneously, I’ll mail you a Reds bumper sticker.

Anyway, I’d like to repent. Now that I have a bit more free time (I even plan on getting my hair done next week), if you’d let me, I’d like to be the voice of the 2012 Reds World Series run, because we all know it’s happening. I have my tickets to all of the playoff series, including the World Series, and I think we can do this. Our magic number is five. FIVE. I want to cry just thinking about it. It’s going to happen and we’re going to do it. Let’s keep the blissful optimism alive, ok?

I’d also like to take this moment to ask the loyal, longtime readers to please remember that I’m not a bandwagon fan. I stuck through that entire mess last season, didn’t I?

So basically what I’m asking you guys is, can we be friends again? Can I write funny stuff about the Reds for you? Will you read it, share it, and comment on it? I miss you and I love you.

P.S. Can you please Tweet me during games and make sure I’m not watching TLC? Keep me honest, please.

ImageSee, Angie and I still look the same!

Ok, that’s enough. GO REDS!

Definitely still reading your blog! Life gets in the way of the things we want to do sometimes. :) Congrats on the “real” job!
